Multi-media project/traveling exhibition/book; main installation contains 167 black upcycled boxes containing leaves, seeds and scientific, poetic, and documentary writings. The Leaves were collected from 19 countries along 17 years. The Library is constructed as though of four geological layers: a layer of man-inflicted environmental damages, a layer of local/global insights, a personal/global diary and the Nari, simple magic. The installation is actually a kind of a black box containing data and contemplations on human-nature relationships. The project also includes a series of photographs from 17 years of walks in a forest near Zakai's studio, a video-art, Genius Loci, awakens us to the existance of natural entities and the essence of a place and stories and story telling through public workshops and lectures.
Forest Tunes - the Library, has to do with daylighting the processes set in motion by human beings every day, for the most part hidden, related to the most burning ecological issues; loss of biodiversity, deforestation, global warming, and lack of environmental awareness.
Stream reclamation as an artwork: In a quests for visual expressions which would bring man and the environment closer together I have conceived of a reclamation plan which operates concurrently on the physical level – cleansing the stream, and on the social and spiritual level – healing people from their environmental indifference.
